This group of drawings were done last week when I was in Chicago.
When I am out the road and away from the painting studio I like to draw these little comic ideas. This is a batch I came up with while in Pittsburgh this summer.
This is actually the first piece of art I created this year. I started it on New Year’s Eve and finished it just after midnight.
This is a character who has appeared in many paintings over the years and in a few comix here and there. I saw a hilarious Dos Equis commercial a week or two ago about the most interesting man in the world. This is a play on that commercial East Nashville style.
[This one is actually an idea for a painting, but I have yet to figure out how to make it work. Enjoy.]
Hey Benny,
I bought one of those laughing boxes – I should call it bag of laughs—that is what they call them. I got it at Spencers’ in the mall, right? This one was different, sure enough. You pressed the button inside that little fuzzy sack and it didn’t laugh one little bit! No Sir! I should have tried it out before I bought it and the truth is, well, I tried out one of them that was on the shelf and that son-bitch was laughing like Bobby Sparkman the night they hit Todd in the face with 17 snowballs in the parking lot of Whitt’s Bar-be-cue. You remember that, right? You were there!
But this one, well, you push the button and it just mumbles up words and shit. I mean to me it was just sounds like gurgling, but Sissy swears it sounds like satanic messages. Holy Shit! I reckon she is a lot better at those things than I am, by God! But hey… to me it sounds a little like David Lee Roth vomiting the pledge of allegiance. I hate to tell you this, but this is all we have for you, maybe something better later. We miss you terribly and maybe some of your friends in jail will get a kick out of this bag of laughs. Don’t drop the soap, ha, ha, ha!
Trina says hello!
Krista asked that you stop calling her
26 months to go, you can do that standing on your head!
All the best!
Tim
Here is a new comic strip that I drew back around Christmas. I was working on it in a hotel room in Stone Mountain Park, Georgia. This is the first in the series “Sammy is a Bear.” You may have seen this smoking bear popping up in my paintings here and there. I always thought there might be a little more of a story to tell about this guy. Let’s see where it goes from here. I do have a couple more in the can that I will be posting at a later date.
